DDouble2K looks to build on performance at ‘THE TURN’

Grizz Gaming (1-4) didn’t get the result it wanted at the NBA 2K League’s second tournament of the season, but Daniel Davis (DDouble2K) emerged as a serious weapon in the team’s loss to 76ers GC. Playing his first game at center, Davis posted 24 points and 10 rebounds on 10-of-14 shooting, marking his first double-double and season highs for both.

Davis is just 18 years old, but played well above his age last week.

“Daniel had a big game last week against the Sixers, and we hope he can build on that performance and continue to grow, which will only help Grizz Gaming,” said Grizz Gaming General Manager Lang Whitaker. “He’s one of the younger players in the 2K League, but he played like a vet last week.”

This week, Grizz Gaming turns its attention to Warriors Gaming Squad (1-3), who is just a half-game ahead of Grizz in the standings. The game will prove to be big for increasing each team’s chances for a run at a playoff berth in the second half of the regular season.

“The Warriors have really come on strong lately,” said Whitaker. “Lykapro really pushes the tempo and keeps their offense running, and Vert gives them a solid interior presence while Type and their other guys space the floor. They will give us a serious test, to be sure.”

Vert (Jordan Gates) has produced enormous amounts of production, averaging 24.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. Lykapro (Cody Hart) leads the team in assists (8.6 apg) and Type (15.0 ppg, 7.9 rpg) is the team’s second-leading scorer.

This game is a big one that could give either team the boost they need in order to make a playoff run during the second half of the regular season schedule. Fans can live stream the game at twitch.com/nba2kleague.
