Grizz Gaming advances to bracket play of THE TIPOFF following 71-65 win over Magic Gaming

Memphis, Tenn. — Grizz Gaming defeated Magic Gaming 71-65 in the final Group Stage game of THE TIPOFF tournament. With their second consecutive victory, Grizz Gaming advanced out of Group D and into the round-of-16. Each round will consist of a best-of-three series, ultimately determining THE TIPOFF champion.

BP (Michael Diaz) posted a double-double with 25 points and 10 assists to lead Grizz Gaming. Spartxn (Josh McHatten) posted his second double-double of the tournament with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Jrod (Justin Rodriguez) added 15 points and five rebounds while JMoney (Jordan Martinez) pitched in 14 points with three assists.

Kapp (Justin Kaplan) led Magic Gaming with 24 points and six assists on 9-of-17 shooting. BigReign (Blaine Wilson) posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Matty (Matthew Grant) tallied 14 points and Snubby (Justin Stemerman) added 13 points.

Grizz Gaming led 35-31 to start the second half before their dominant 19-11 run in the third quarter broke the game open. JMoney connected on a 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining in the quarter to extend the lead to 54-42 heading to the fourth quarter. Magic Gaming put together their best offensive stretch of the night in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Grizz Gaming’s balanced scoring attack.

Grizz Gaming outshot Magic Gaming 60% to 49% from the field while scoring a season-high 71 points. The Grizz shot 52% from 3-point range, led by a perfect 4-of-4 shooting night from Jrod behind the arc.

Grizz Gaming will play a best-of-three series in the round-of-16 on Wednesday, April 20, against an opponent to be determined. Fans can watch the game on the league’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
