Grizz Gaming advances to quarterfinals, falls to Blazer5 Gaming

Grizz Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, defeated Knick Gaming 2-1 (64-65, 70-67, 90-87) in a best-of-three series to advance to the quarterfinals of THE TICKET powered by AT&T Friday night. The Grizz then took on Blazer5 Gaming, falling 2-0 to Blazer5 Gaming (50-97, 59-60).

The Grizz overcame a last second loss in Game 1 to take the next two games over the Knicks and advance to the quarterfinals. After falling behind in Game 2, the Grizz scored 29 fourth quarter points to overtake the Knicks late. Vandi (Zach Vandivier) had 24 points and 12 assists for the Grizz while G O O F Y 7 5 7 (Dayvon Curry) also tallied a double-double (18 points, 13 rebounds).

Memphis’ team won a shootout in Game 3 despite trailing 28-11 after the first quarter. The Grizz chipped away at the lead the rest of the way to record a 90-87 victory. Vandi (51 points) recorded his second 50-point game of the season to go with seven assists. G O O F Y 7 5 7 had a productive line of 10 points, 18 rebounds, five assists, four blocks and two steals.

Blazer5 used a 28-8 second quarter in Game 1 to propel themselves to the win. G O O F Y 7 5 7 led the Grizz with 15 points and 12 rebounds. MamaImDatMan (Neadal Nasser) had 48 points for Blazer5. The Grizz won the first and third quarters but fell by a narrow margin in Game 2. Vandi had 27 points and 10 assists for the Grizz. MamaImDatMan led Blazer5 with 25 points and 12 assists.
