Grizz Gaming advances to quarterfinals of the ‘SLAM OPEN’ with 3-1 series win over Celtics Crossover Gaming

Indianapolis, Ind. — Grizz Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, defeated Celtics Crossover Gaming 3-1 in a best-of-five series in the round of 16 of the SLAM OPEN on Thursday night. The SLAM OPEN is the NBA 2K League’s first 3-on-3 tournament and the first to include amateur teams.

Grizz Gaming took the first two games in the best-of-five series before the Celtics forced a Game 4 following their lone win of the series. BP (Michael Diaz) scored 11 of Grizz Gaming’s 22 points in Game 4 and Jrod (Justin Rodriguez) connected on a game-winning 3-pointer to secure the series-clinching victory. Memphis’ squad shot 77% from the field and posted seven assists with no turnovers in Game 4.

Grizz Gaming advances to face Hawks Talon GC in the quarterfinals tonight, May 13, at 8:30 p.m. CT in a best-of-seven series. The tournament will conclude on Saturday, May 14, with the semifinals as well as the finals, which are also best-of-seven series. The prize pool will award $60,000 to The SLAM OPEN champions. Second place will receive $30,000 while the third and fourth place teams earn $15,000 each.
