Grizz Gaming bolsters playoff chances in regular season finale

Team Finishes Regular Season at 9-7 on a Three-Game Winning Streak

Long Island City, N.Y. —  Grizz Gaming (9-7) kept its playoff hopes alive with its third straight win, defeating Magic Gaming 58-45 on Wednesday night inside the NBA 2K League Studio Powered by Intel.

Box Score

In order for Grizz Gaming to make the playoffs, it starts with a NetsGC win over Pacers Gaming tonight, which would create a three-way tie for the final playoff spot at 9-7. If NetsGC wins its final game of the evening and Cavs Legion GC also wins, it would create a five-way tie. Out of all teams still in contention for that spot, Grizz Gaming has by far the highest point differential at 6.1, which is 2.6 higher than any of the others. Point differential is the second tiebreaker after head-to-head.

It was a much slower start for both teams, especially after Grizz Gaming’s onslaught yesterday. The teams were tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter with Grizz Gaming shooting just 2-of-10 from the field. That all changed in the second as Grizz Gaming started the period on a 13-0 run, which included a momentum shifting three from Kelmav, leading to a 10-point halftime lead.

Magic Gaming would pull within five in the fourth quarter but Grizz Gaming’s offense came alive once again to pull away late. The Grizz outscored the Magic 37-22 between the second and fourth quarters.

AuthenticAfrican (10 points, 17 rebounds) had another double-double and added four assists, three steals and two blocks. Vandi led the Grizz with 19 points. DT paced the Magic with a game-high 21 points.
