Grizz Gaming wins third straight

Grizz Gaming rebounded from a Game 1 loss and held off a flurry of rallies to claim a 2-1 series victory over Pistons GT (51-62, 79-75, 65-64).

After Grizz Gaming led 17-10 following the first quarter of Game 1, Pistons GT chipped away at the lead in the second and then won the third quarter by a 22-6 margin. The Grizz were unable to overcome the 13-point deficit. Vandi (Zach Vandivier) led the team with 26 points and AuthenticAfrican (Mehyar Ahmed-Hassan) followed suit with 18 points of his own. DevGoss (Devin Gossett) had an efficient 32 points on 13-of-17 shooting for Pistons GT.

Grizz Gaming led 32-30 at halftime of Game 2 before a 31-point third quarter propelled Memphis’ team to a 63-47 advantage heading into the fourth. A late rally by Pistons GT fell short as the Grizz forced a Game 3. Vandi posted a career-high 47 points to lead Grizz Gaming. Jrod (Justin Rodriguez) added 16 points while shooting 4-of-5 from long distance. Demon JT (Johnathon Fields) scored 35 points for the Pistons.

Holding a 17-11 lead going into the second quarter of Game 3, Grizz Gaming opened the period on a 7-0 run to push the lead to double digits and led by 15 at halftime. The Grizz maintained the 15-point lead through the third despite a big run by Pistons GT in the middle of the frame. Pistons GT rallied again in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to as little as one (65-64) with 27.4 seconds left. G O O F Y 7 5 7 (Dayvon Curry) grabbed a clutch offensive rebound with 4.2 seconds left to help seal the victory. Vandi finished with 27 points and seven assists. AuthenticAfrican continued his increased scoring output with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting.
