Grizz Gaming defeated the defending 2K League champion T-Wolves Gaming (5-2) in three games Tuesday night, marking the team’s fourth straight win. The win also snapped a five-game winning streak for T-Wolves Gaming.
With the deciding game tied at 63-63, Vandi (Zach Vandivier) attacked the hoop and scored with 12.0 seconds left. G O O F Y 7 5 7 (Dayvon Curry) recorded a steal on the ensuing possession and essentially iced the game. The Grizz ended the first quarter of Game 3 on a 9-0 run to take a 23-16 lead. Three of Grizz Gaming’s five reached double figures on their way to a 37-34 lead at halftime. Memphis’ team led 51-49 entering the fourth and the teams traded buckets for almost the entire fourth quarter prior to the winning sequence. Vandi finished with 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting in the 69-65 victory. G O O F Y 7 5 7 posted his third double-double of the night (12 points, 12 rebounds). Feast (Mihad Feratovic) posted 20 points (9-9 FG) to go with 18 rebounds for the T-Wolves.
Grizz Gaming took Game 2 after building its lead to as many as 13 in the second half, leading 46-35 at halftime. T-Wolves Gaming evened things up heading into the final frame, but the Grizz prevailed 79-73 on the heels of a 21-point fourth quarter. Vandi reached the 30-point plateau yet again, posting 32 points on 14-of-25 shooting. AuthenticAfrican (Mehyar AhmedHassan) logged 18 points. G O O F Y 7 5 7 tied a game-high 16 rebounds to go with 10 points, five assists, four blocks and two steals. BearDaBeast (Michael Key) finished with 27 points and nine assists for T-Wolves Gaming.
In Game 1, Memphis held a 15-13 lead through the first quarter, but T-Wolves Gaming outscored the Grizz 52-18 in the next two periods on its way to a 94-55 win. AuthenticAfrican led the Grizz with 20 points. Vandi (11 points, 10 assists) and G O O F Y 7 5 7 (12 points, 13 rebounds) each collected double-doubles. BearDaBeast led T-Wolves with 34 points (15-19 FG) and eight assists.
