Grizz Gaming falls 2-0 against Jazz Gaming in second round of the turn

Memphis, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies NBA 2K League affiliate, Grizz Gaming, were swept by Jazz Gaming in a best-of-three series in the second round of THE TURN powered by AT&T on Thursday night.

The two teams traded buckets back and forth in a highly contested first quarter in Game 1, with Jazz Gaming coming out on top 18-15. Jazz Gaming Center Ria (Spencer Wyman) helped get the edge with eight points and seven rebounds in the first period. Jazz Gaming held the 33-25 lead at the half behind 14 points and 12 rebounds from Ria and 11 points from Splashy (Kimanni Ingram). AuthenticAfrican (Meyhar Ahmed-Hassan) led Grizz Gaming with 10 points and three rebounds. Grizz Gaming trailed throughout the second half but brought the deficit down to two with 18.7 seconds minutes remaining. Down 69-66 with 5.4 seconds on the clock, a costly turnover closed the game. Splashy scored 29 points and 12 rebounds while Ria added 21 points and 15 rebounds. Vandi (Zach Vandivier) recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists in the loss.

After an early deficit in Game 2, Grizz Gaming brought the score the 22-21 in favor on Jazz Gaming as Vandi scored 10 points on 2-for-4 shooting from 3-point range. Jazz Gaming extended their lead to 40-34 at halftime, shooting 14-for-21 from the field and 8-for-13 from three in the first two periods. Vandi and Splashy led their respective teams with 16 points each at the half. Jazz Gaming extended their lead in the third quarter and didn’t look back as they pulled away with a 90-67 final score in Game 2. All five Jazz Gaming starters scored in double-digits with Splashy leading the team with 32 points and 13 assists. Vandi scored 24 points with 14 assists.

Grizz Gaming returns to action on July 30 with a matchup against Pacers Gaming in Week 8 of the NBA 2K League regular season.
