Grizz Gaming falls to Gen.G Tigers in bracket play of THE TIPOFF tournament

Memphis, Tenn. — Grizz Gaming fell just shy of upsetting of the top-seeded Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai on Wednesday night, falling 66-61 in the round of 16 of THE TIPOFF tournament.

OTTR (Jaiden Frank) led the Gen.G Tigers with 25 points and 11 assists while FEAST (Mihad Feratovic) notched a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

BP (Michael Diaz) and Spartxn (Josh McHatten) each posted double-doubles for Grizz Gaming, with BP notching 15 points and 13 assists while Spartxn totaled 17 points and 13 rebounds. JMoney (Jordan Martinez) added 12 points and Jrod (Justin Rodriguez) scored 10 points with four rebounds.

The game was locked at 12-12 after the first quarter before Grizz Gaming took a 29-26 lead into the halftime break after outscoring the Tigers 17-14 in the second quarter. JMoney and Spartxn led Memphis’ squad with nine points each at halftime.

BP dished an assist to Spartxn for a buzzer-beating shot to give Grizz Gaming a 46-44 lead with one quarter remaining. Gen.G used their best offensive quarter of the night to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. Grizz Gaming pulled within three points with 9.4 seconds remaining, but the game-tying shot attempt from BP didn’t fall as Gen.G advanced to the quarterfinals. Gen.G outscored Grizz Gaming 22-15 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback victory.

Grizz Gaming hosts its inaugural 3v3 contest in a rematch with Gen.G on Wednesday, April 27, at 9 p.m. CT as part of THE SLAM tournament, the NBA 2K League’s first ever 3v3 event.
