Grizz Gaming falls to Hawks Talon in opening game of playoff seeding

Memphis, Tenn. — Grizz Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, fell to Hawks Talon GC 74-66 in the first of five seeding games. Each of the 24 NBA 2K League teams will play five seeding games over the next two weeks to conclude the 5v5 regular season.

Witness (John Mushaben) tallied a game-high 27 points on 10-of-15 shooting to lead Hawks Talon GC. Ceez (Caesar Martinez) posted a double-double with 17 points and 14 assists from the point guard position. Hotshotx305 (Juan Gonzalez) totaled 18 points and six assists.

BP (Michael Diaz) posted a double-double with 23 points and 17 assists to lead Grizz Gaming. BP knocked down 7 3-pointers and shot 53% from the field. Spartxn (Josh McHatten) also posted a double-double for Memphis with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Grizz Gaming trailed by only one point, 52-51, after three quarters of play but Hawks Talon GC outscored Memphis 22-15 in the fourth quarter to run away with the victory. Hawks Talon GC outshot Grizz Gaming 74% to 54% from the field and outscored the Grizz 7-0 from the free throw line.

BP had a hot start to the game, scoring 11 of his 23 points in the first quarter alone, helping the Grizz to a 21-17 advantage after the first six minutes of play. Memphis led 39-34 at the halftime break but Atlanta’s squad outscored the Grizz 40-27 in the second half.
