Grizz Gaming falls to Raptors Uprising GC 62-52 in season opener

Memphis, Tenn. — Grizz Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, fell to Raptors Uprising GC 62-52 to begin Group Stage play of THE TIPOFF powered by AT&T.

Dimez (Artreyo Boyd) totaled a game-high 22 points (11-13 FG) with nine rebounds and three assists to lead the Raptors. Rookie point guard FantaSZN (Emmanuel Gosman) tallied 14 points and six assists in his 2K League debut. Former MVP Kenny Got Work (Kenneth Hailey) dished out a game-high nine assists.

BP (Michael Diaz) posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 assists on 5-of-10 shooting but was forced into 10 turnovers. AuthenticAfrican (Mehyar Ahmed-Hassan) added 13 points and six rebounds while Spartxn (Josh McHatten) tallied 12 points.

Raptors Uprising trailed 22-18 after a strong first quarter from Grizz Gaming but flipped the game in the second quarter with their defense. Toronto limited Memphis to four points in the quarter as they grabbed a 31-26 lead at the halftime break. The Raptors outscored the Grizz 18-13 in the third quarter before cruising to a 10-point victory in the season opener.

Grizz Gaming outshot Raptors Uprising 64% to 61% from the floor but was unable to overcome a 19-11 turnover differential. Raptors Uprising GC forced 18 steals in just 24 minutes of play.
