Grizz Gaming improves to 5-1 following sweep of Bucks Gaming

Memphis, Tenn. — Grizz Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, earned a 2-0 sweep over Bucks Gaming Saturday night to improve to 5-1 on the season. Grizz Gaming now holds a share of the top spot in the Eastern Conference standings and continues to build on the best start in franchise history.

Grizz Gaming put together a balanced scoring attack in Game 1 as all five players scored in double-figures. FollowTHEGOD (Kwan Niblack Jr.) connected on a 3-point jumper with 14.9 seconds to play in the first half to extend Grizz Gaming’s lead to 12 points at 40-28. The Grizz came out strong to start the second half, putting together a dominant third quarter, stretching the lead to 66-41 heading to the fourth quarter of play. Bucks Gaming put together their strongest offensive quarter in the fourth, but it would not be enough to overcome Grizz Gaming’s hot shooting from behind the 3-point line. Memphis’ squad shot 59.3 percent from deep in the 87-66 victory. Reigning NBA 2K Player of the Week Vandi (Zach Vandivier) posted a double-double with 27 points, 14 assists and one rebound on 11-of-23 shooting. Grizz Gaming veteran AuthenticAfrican (Mehyar Ahmed-Hassan) posted a double-double of his own with 16 points and 16 rebounds while shooting an efficient 7-of-9 from the field. Plondo (Tyler Lay) led Bucks Gaming with 22 points, 11 rebounds and one block in the loss.

The Grizz picked up where they left off in the first matchup, out-scoring Bucks Gaming 25-16 in the first quarter of Game 2. Spartxn (Josh McHatten) extended Grizz Gaming’s lead to 39-26 following a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the first half. Spartxn scored 15 of his 21 points in the first half alone. Grizz Gaming forced Milwaukee’s squad into 11 turnovers as they cruised to a 30-point victory in game two. AuthenticAfrican was dominant in the second game, posting a double-double with a season-high 25 rebounds, 17 points and eight assists. Vandi posted his second double-double of the night with 20 points, 11 assists and one block. Spartxn’s 21 points (8-11 FG) marked a new career-high for the power forward. Plondo posted 16 points and 14 rebounds in the 85-55 loss.
