Grizz Gaming keeps playoff hopes alive with blowout victory

Long Island City, N.Y. — Grizz Gaming (8-7) kept its playoff hopes alive with its second straight blowout win, this time defeating Warriors Gaming Squad (7-9) by a score of 86-53 on Wednesday night inside the NBA 2K League Studio Powered by Intel. Memphis’ team finished the game shooting 35-of-44 (.795) from the field and knocked down 10 of its first 11 three-pointers.

Grizz Gaming plays its regular season finale tomorrow at 5 p.m. CT against Magic Gaming (8-6), a game originally scheduled for last week that holds massive playoff implications.

All five gamers for the Grizz scored at least 12 points. Vandi (22 points, 11 assists) and AuthenticAfrican (15 points, 11 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles. DDouble finished with 20 points of his own while Kelmav (17 points) and Jayrod (12 points) rounded things out. No gamer for the Grizz shot below 75 percent from the field and all five took at least nine field goal attempts. BSmoove (25 points) led Warriors Gaming Squad.

An explosive first quarter that saw Grizz Gaming shoot 9-of-11 from the field (3-3 3P) led to a 21-11 edge. It was a balanced effort, with all five gamers getting involved and scoring at least three points. The team also assisted on eight of its nine made field goals and recorded four steals in the period.

The Grizz got even more separation in the second quarter, continuing the three-point barrage and leading 45-24 at the break. Memphis finished the half shooting 8-of-9 from downtown and 17-of-21 from the field. Jayrod knocked down all four of his three-point attempts and three Grizz gamers finished the half with 12 points.

Grizz Gaming then made all nine of its field goal attempts in the third quarter to push the lead to 30 (65-35) heading into the final frame.
