Grizz Gaming knocks off Knicks Gaming

Grizz Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, defeated Knicks Gaming 2-1 (72-80, 84-79, 84-70) tonight in a best-of-three series counting towards regular season play. The Grizz have now won five of their last six regular season contests. Vandi (Zach Vandivier) averaged 40.3 Points, 10.0 assists and 5.0 steals in three games played.
After a tight first quarter, a 10-2 run to start the second put Knicks Gaming up 34-22 in the frame’s early minutes. The Grizz chipped away at the lead slightly, but the Knicks held a steady lead for the remainder of the game. Vandi had 36 points and 12 assists while G O O F Y 7 5 7 (Dayvon Curry) also recorded a double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds) for Grizz Gaming against his former team. Duck (Christopher Charles) fell just shy of his own double-double (38 points, nine assists) for the Knicks.
In Game 2, the teams played to a 20-20 tie to open things up through one quarter. The Grizz went on a tear late in the second, however, and scored 28 points in the period. With a 37-33 Grizz lead, DDouble (Daniel Davis) knocked down a three-pointer that was promptly followed by a Vandi steal and three-pointer in the backcourt. Memphis’ team led 48-36 at the half and led by as many as 17 early in the third quarter, but the Knicks used a 14-2 run to cut the lead to just five. New York cut the lead to as little as four, but the Grizz led by seven heading into the final frame. In the fourth, the Grizz were able to keep their distance and force a Game 3. Vandi had a stellar outing of 43 points, nine assists and six steals. Duck added 40 points for the Knicks.
Grizz Gaming sealed the deal in Game 3 and started the contest on a 17-7 run. Memphis’ team pushed its lead to 33-18 early in the second quarter, but the Knicks closed the period on a 17-3 run to pull within one point. Grizz Gaming countered in the third and extended the lead to 13 before maintaining a solid lead the rest of the way. Vandi nearly posted a triple-double, recording 42 points, nine assists and nine steals. AuthenticAfrican (Meyhar Ahmed-Hassan) scored 27 points on 10-of-11 shooting from the field (3-3 3P).
