Grizz Gaming loses first regular season game in final seconds

Long Island City, N.Y – Grizz Gaming lost its first regular game of the season in the final seconds to Mavs Gaming by a score of 46-45. PeteBeBallin scored underneath the basket with 1.6 seconds left to lift Mavs to victory.

After scoring just 23 points through three quarters, Grizz Gaming scored 22 in the fourth and erased a 12-point deficit in the process. Jayrod gave Grizz its first lead at 45-44 with under a minute to go after his first three-pointer of the game. Grizz would kill some clock after multiple offensive rebounds on their next possession, but turned it over on an inbounds play with 9.7 seconds remaining.
For the game, Mavs Gaming shot 5-of-6 from three-point range while Grizz Gaming shot 2-of-17 and missed its first 11 attempts. AuthenticAfrican had a monster performance of 21 points and 17 rebounds on 10-of-13 shooting for Grizz Gaming. Vandi struggled until his impressive fourth quarter performance and finished with 15 points. Dimez (12 points, 10 assists) led the way for Mavs Gaming.
Both teams were sluggish out of the gate, committing several turnovers and combining to shoot 2-of-9 while the score was just 2-2 after four minutes of play. Mavs Gaming woke up to finish the quarter on a 9-2 run and lead 11-4 after the opening frame. The margin would stay at seven (22-15) after the second quarter and the slugfest would continue into halftime. Mavs Gaming woke up to shoot 10-of-18 while Grizz Gaming shot just 5-of-16. The offensive struggles continued for Grizz in the third quarter, as the team scored just eight points but played well enough defensively to keep the deficit at 10 (33-23) heading into the final frame.
