Grizz Gaming secures spot in bracket play of ‘THE TURN’ with victory over 76ers Gaming

Memphis, Tenn. — Grizz Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, clinched its spot in the 16-team bracket of THE TURN tournament with a 72-58 win over 76ers GC Thursday night. THE TURN is a three-week, five-on-five tournament (Tuesday, May 24 – Saturday, June 11) with all 24 NBA 2K League teams participating.

BP (Michael Diaz) paced Grizz Gaming with 35 points (13-20 FG) and six assists in the win. Spartxn (Josh McHatten) posted a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. JMoney (Jordan Martinez) added 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Grizz Gaming trailed 22-18 after one quarter of play before grabbing control of the game with a 19-8 advantage in the second quarter. The Grizz extended the lead in the second half with a strong shooting performance, outscoring Philadelphia 35-28. Grizz Gaming shot 63% from the field and 57% from 3-point range while out-rebounding 76ers GC 20-13.

Grizz Gaming concludes play in Group D tomorrow, June 3, at 6 p.m. CT as they aim to improve their seed in bracket play with a win vs. Celtics Crossover Gaming. Fans can watch the game on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels

The 16-team bracket will feature eight first round games that will be played in a single-elimination format. Beginning with the quarterfinals and running through the finals, teams will play a best-of-three series to determine THE TURN champion. The teams will compete for a total prize pool of $250,000. The prize pool will award $100,000 to the tournament champion. The runner-up will receive $50,000 while third and fourth place receive $25,000.
