Grizz Gaming splits doubleheader against 76ers GC

Grizz Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, split a two-game series against 76ers GC on Saturday, moving the team’s overall record to 10-4 with a 1-3 finish in Week 5 of the NBA 2k League.

Grizz Gaming struggled offensively early in Game 1, allowing 76ers gaming to find a first quarter lead as point guard Dre (Dre Marshall) led with six points and five assists. A defensive battle in the second quarter brought the score to 29-26 in favor of the 76ers at halftime. Dre scored 10 points with seven assists in the half while Chess (Kory Taylor) led Grizz Gaming with nine points. The Grizzlies outscored the 76ers 21-12 in the third quarter to take a 47-41 lead into the final period. Dre poured in 12 points in the fourth quarter but the Grizzlies offense continued to push, keeping the 76ers at distance and securing the 70-61 victory in Game 1. Vandi (Zach Vandivier) and Chess each scored 24 points with Vandi notching 11 assists for the double-double. AuthenticAfrican (Mehyar Ahmed-Hassan) found 10 points and 10 rebounds of his own.
Dre’s nine first-quarter points gave the 76ers the 16-10 lead after one period, but it was Arooks (Aaron Rookwood) who took over in the second quarter  with 11 points in the half to carry the 30-26 lead into halftime. Vandi led the Grizzlies with 15 points in the half. The Grizzlies opened the second half with a 3-pointer from Chess to spark a back-and-forth third period with the 76er keeping a 42-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter. A two-minute scoring drought helped the 76ers keep a narrow lead and close out a low-scoring Game 2, 60-55. Dre led 76ers GC with 23 points while Arooks finished with 19. Vandi was the top scorer for Grizz Gaming with 24 points and AuthenticAfrican recorded another double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
