Grizz Gaming splits Week 8 games

Grizz Gaming lost to Wizards District Gaming 88-78 Saturday inside the NBA 2K League Studio Powered by Intel. The team now stands at 4-6 in regular season play and went 1-1 in Week 8. Memphis’ team led after the opening period, but could not sustain the lead as they did the previous evening.

The Grizz continued its recent offensive surge with franchise highs in points (78), and field goals (37) while posting the team’s second-highest field goal percentage (.649). The biggest difference in the game was from beyond the arc, with the Grizz knocking down just 3-of-10 attempts while Wizards District hit 7-of-11.

AuthenticAfrican (Mehyar Ahmed-Hassan) posted another stellar performance with 30 points and 12 assists on 15-of-21 shooting to go with four rebounds and three blocks. DDouble2K (Daniel Davis) chipped in with 19 points (9-of-15 FG) while UniversalPhenom (Antonio Saldivar) added 14 points (7-9 FG). ayeTHREAT (Troy Minott II) also reached double figures with 12 points.

It was the Boo Painter (Austin Painter) show for Wizards District Gaming, who posted the league’s second triple-double with 45 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds on 21-of-26 shooting.  Demon JT (Johnathan Fields) had 15 points while ReeseDaGod23 (Maurice Delaney; 14 points) and Jin (Jin Choe; 12 points) also scored in double digits.

Grizz Gaming will compete in the league’s second in-season tournament, ‘THE TICKET’, next week from Thursday-Saturday at the NBA 2K League Studio Powered by Intel in New York City.
