Grizz Gaming sweeps Raptors Uprising GC to finish best regular season in franchise history

NBA 2K League Playoffs Begin Thursday, Aug. 26 in Dallas, Texas

Memphis, Tenn. — Grizz Gaming, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Memphis Grizzlies, capped-off the regular season with a 2-0 sweep over Raptors Uprising GC on Wednesday night. Grizz Gaming finished the regular season 18-10, the best record in franchise history, and currently sits in third place in the Eastern Conference standings. The team will travel to Dallas, Texas to play in the 2021 NBA 2K League Playoffs, which will mark their first in-person match of the 2021 season, beginning on Thursday, Aug. 26.

Grizz Gaming’s offense was clicking on all cylinders Wednesday night as the backcourt of Chess (Kory Taylor) and Vandi (Zach Vandivier) combined for 10 3-pointers in Game 1. Memphis’ squad trailed Toronto 54-52 after three quarters of play before putting together a dominant 23-12 fourth quarter performance to complete the comeback. Four of Grizz Gaming’s five starters finished with double-digit points and Spartxn (Josh McHatten) finished just one point shy with nine points and four rebounds. Vandi led the way with 28 points and 11 assists on 10-of-19 shooting. AuthenticAfrican (Mehyar Ahmed-Hassan) also posted a double-double with 11 points and 17 rebounds while dishing three assists. Chess pitched in 16 points and three assists. Dimez (Artreyo Boyd) posted a game-high 29 points, five assists and two rebounds to lead Raptors Uprising. Type (Xavier Vescovi) posted a double-double for Toronto with 20 points and 14 boards in the Game 1 loss.

Game 2 was much of the same for Grizz Gaming’s offense. The Grizz used a different starting lineup for the first time in 28 games this season, but the offense kept their rhythm in a very impressive performance. Jrod (Justin Rodriguez) drew his first starting assignment of the season and posted 14 points, four rebounds and two assists while shooting 4-of-7 from 3-point range. Grizz Gaming combined for 51 point in the second and third quarters as they cruised to an 88-75 victory. Vandi posted 28 points, 13 assists and one block while knocking down a season-high-tying eight 3-pointers. Chess posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds and followTHEGOD (Kwan Niblack Jr.) added 17 points and three assists.
