Grizz Gaming takes revenge on Mavs Gaming

After being routed in the opening weekend matchup earlier this season, Grizz Gaming got revenge against Mavs Gaming, winning 84-77 Saturday at the NBA 2K League Studio Powered by Intel in New York City. Grizz Gaming is now 5-6 in regular season play and has won four of its last six regular season games. The team continued to set offensive records, recording franchise highs in points (84), field goal percentage (.755, 34-45) and three-pointers made (11).

It felt as if the Mavs were going to pull away early in the second quarter before a 12-3 run put the Grizz back on top (29-27). The teams traded three-pointers later in the period before entering halftime tied at 38-38. By then,Authentic African (Mehyar Ahmed-Hassan) had 27 points on 13-of-15 shooting and Mavs Gaming had knocked down seven three-pointers.

After a back-and-forth third quarter, ayeTHREAT (Troy Minott II) knocked down a three to put Grizz Gaming up 70-65 before Mavs Gaming responded with an 8-2 run to go back up 73-72. A DDouble2K (Daniel Davis) three made it 77-73 with 1:40 remaining, putting the Grizz up for good.

AuthenticAfrican finished the game with a franchise-high 33 points, while also leading the team in assists (13) and rebounds (6) all while shooting 16-of-18 from the field. ayeTHREAT had a season-high 22 points, shooting 8-of-10 from the field and knocking down all four three-point attempts. UniversalPhenom (Antonio Saldivar) also finished in double figures with 12 points.

Dimez (Artreyo Boyd) led Mavs Gaming with 41 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, shooting 20-of-27 from the field. HazzaUK2K (Harry Hurst) had 14 points while devillon (Ryan de Villon) scored 11 points. The frontcourt duo combined to shoot 9-of-12 from the field.
