Jazz thrive in third quarter to top Grizz Gaming

After a strong first half, Grizz Gaming (1-4) couldn’t keep up with Jazz Gaming (3-2) in the second, losing to 75-57 on Friday night inside the NBA 2K League Studio.
Jazz Gaming pulled away in the second half, thanks to a 27-point third quarter. Jazz missed only two shots in the period, going 10-for-12 (2-2 3P). Grizz Gaming made 2-of-7 (1-4 3P) shots to score just nine points while committing four turnovers. Grizz would outscore Jazz 16-15 in the fourth quarter, but the deficit was already too much.
Vandi followed up yesterday’s double-double with another one, scoring 20 points and handing out 11 assists to lead Grizz Gaming. The rookie is averaging 24 points and 11 assists over his last two games. AuthenticAfrican added 13 points and six boards.
The first half was closely contested, with neither team mustering more than a 5-0 run throughout the half. Jazz Gaming focused on getting to the rim, shooting an efficient 12-of-16 (.750) from the floor. Grizz Gaming also made over half their shots, going 13-for-24 (.541) in the half despite making only 3-of-9 (.333) three-pointers. Jazz Gaming went into the break leading 33-32 at halftime.
Yeah I Compete led the way for Jazz Gaming, finishing with a game-high 25 points (4-6 3P) and eight assists. Rookie Ria approached a triple-double, finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven steals.
Grizz Gaming will resume play when they compete at THE TURN powered by AT&T on May 9-11 at HyperX Esports Arena in Las Vegas.
